75 Hard Challenge: A Reflection

I was starting a 75 Hard Challenge back in the beginning of February and I managed to keep it up and going for 36 days, at 81% accomplishment.

The reality of juggling an 8-hour workday and nurturing a young daughter who depends heavily on me became stark. The whole 36 days I was feeling I was only rushing to check the challenge goals. I felt I was not enjoying anything, went to bed stressed and tired, only to greet the next day with a weary heart. This wasn’t the path to wellness I had envisioned.

At its origins, the 75 Hard Challenge is tailor-made for athletes or fitness industry professionals. Its rigor is undeniable, even more so when life already spins a full plate of responsibilities, including caring for a little one around the clock.

Still, I believe this challenge nudged me towards healthier habits – like eating vegetables at most meals and establishing a daily skincare ritual, both morning and night. The highlight? Reigniting my passion for staying active. Whether it’s hitting the gym or clocking in 10,000 steps, I’ve rekindled my commitment to daily muscle activation. Sleep, too, has climbed my priority list, ensuring I turn in early for quality rest. The challenge, in essence, has sculpted a more vibrant lifestyle mosaic, marking a victory in my books.

This journey has etched a mental blueprint of my life’s “priorities,” without the frenzy of ticking boxes. These HABITS form the cornerstone of a balanced life:

  • Physical Activity: Committing to an hour at the gym or ensuring a daily tally of 10,000 steps.
  • Nutrition: Emphasizing well-rounded meals with a bounty of vegetables, minimizing processed foods, and saving sweets and alcohol for the occasional indulgence.
  • Mental Well-being: Dedicating time to read, write, meditate, or engage in meaningful conversations.
  • Social Connections: Stepping out solo, beyond the confines of parenting. Fostering deeper bonds with my partner beyond our parental roles. Cultivating a community of parents for social playdates.
  • Personal Care: Prioritizing skincare and supplements for overall body health.

Thanks for all your support during this 75 Hard Challenge, and let’s all keep striving, armed with the wisdom of balance and self-care!
